Okay, so this is the About page, and as you know, it’s purpose is to tell you about us, what we intend on doing on this blog and why we have such an odd title.
We are Loretta, Penny, Angel and Sasha. We`re a small group of independent readers who love to devour books and then discuss them. Recently we`ve noticed an alarming and sadly growing trend of bullshit reviews and they`ve bothered us enough to do something about it.
Now this is not to mean we dislike reviewers, as in professionals who read books and give honest and informed opinions of the works they feature. We respect them, and what they do, and some days wish we had their jobs.
What bothers us is the people who trash books just for hell of it, and worse, anonymous writers, and the friends of some writers, who trash the competitions books in order to boost their own sales.
That is just wrong and on so many levels.
People who trash books just for the hell of it, well, they`re usually miserable petty people in the first place and there`s not a whole lot one can say beyond that.
People who do it to boost their own, or their friends books… they demean the entire process by doing so. They`re cheating, and sadder still, they`re not reading for the joy of it. Nor are they giving either book a fair shake. The trashed book suffers because it`s been trashed and their own book suffers because it`s been tainted.
With this in mind, and with the hope that we can make a difference and balance the nasty blogger reviews, we`ve decided to add our voices to the honest ones.
Now that`s not to say we`re going to love every book we read. We will, no doubt, come across titles that we don`t enjoy as much as others. But we do promise to be honest about them, and not unnecessarily brutal in our honesty just because we can. We will offer a fair assesment and open discussion about the books we review.
