Wanna Make A Bet

Wanna Make A Bet is an delightful read from Stacy Dawn, and is available through The Wild Rose Press.

Sophie Montgomery has moved to the small town of Graceport to be with her friend Julia and put a bad situation behind her. A tenant of Jay Coltrane she baby-sits his bulldog, Harvey for him during the day. Jay finds Sophie to be a sexy distraction, but she is his friend as well as tenant and besides she keeps her distance from him.

Sophie is a talented artist who is slowly building clientele and realizing a dream, the last thing she needs is an entanglement with the sexy, playboy, the likes of Jay.  She is never going to settle down and give up her dreams not that Jay was a settling kind of guy.  Harvey is the most loveable dog in the world, who is as spoilt as they come. With Julia’s upcoming marriage to Dan, Jay’s best friend, he stands to win the bet made back in college with his five friends on who would be single last. Over the years it has become a sizeable pot to win.

When Sophie proclaims to her friends that she is immune to Jay because they want to push her in his direction, one of them lets it slip to Jay.  Both being stubborn and not wanting to back down Jay says “Wanna make a bet?”. Sophie has no alternative but to accept the bet but with conditions of her own, not counting on just what an affect Jay will have on her. She soon finds she is fighting a losing battle as the two are like matches being struck in a dry forest.

Sophie and Jay have problems and baggage to settle along the way which only makes this a more believable story with the ups and downs of the inner battles that they both have going on. This was a realistic, delightful read, with the added romance of Julia and Dan which only strengthened the story.  I would give this a book rating of five, and urge you to go to Wild Rose Press and give this book a read.

Letting Go

I picked up a few of the new Spice Briefs. The first I’d read (last night) was Letting Go by Sarah McCarty.

In this hot tale Becky and her husband Marc head to a remote location with a box full of sex toys and a goal. The idea is to help Becky get over some of her trust issues and sexual hangups in order to bring the couple closer together.

I’m not sure what I’d expected from the Briefs, especially after hearing some negative reports about them being plotless and poorly written, which, having read at least one of them now, I’m chalking up to sour grapes on the part of a rejected writer.

While admittedly, the story wasn’t exactly what I’d anticipated, it was well written and it did feature female focused erotica. The envelope was pushed, just a little, and with the woman’s/couple’s benefit in mind.

Overall I enjoyed it and I’d recommend it to anyone who likes erotica.

Double Dating with the Dead

This was a fun, hot read; something that we expect from author Karen Kelley. This book involves ghosts, a psychic and a skeptic.

Trent Sanders a writer and a skeptic of ghosts publicly states that he thinks Selena James, a well known psychic, is delusional and a fraud.  Now because of a public challenge in the paper after the show he finds that he must spend two weeks with Selena in the hotel that is known as the Legend of Garvoy County.

Selena has nothing to prove to anyone, especially Trent, but she will make a believer out of him, wait and see. Only Selena doesn’t count on a couple of ghosts and her eccentric and meddling family who cause their own brand of trouble.

Angered ghosts want revenge so ghost dust is blown around making for erotic dreams, but if they are dreams why do they seem so real? Trent finds Selena feisty, mean-mouthed and sexy as the devil; quite capable of turning him inside out.  Trent aggravates Selena to no end, but if that is true why does she want to have hot, steamy sex with him one minute and kill him the next?

Readers are taken on a fun, hot, adventurous ride with this paranormal read having you reaching for ice in places and laughing in others. Can they work out their differences and see what is in front of them? I highly recommend this book and would give it a five star rating.
